God, Adoption, And A Big AHA Moment
On the way to school either I, or one of my boys will pray for our day & for extended family and friends. I love to hear what my boys pray. It reminds me why in the bible God asks us to come to Him like children. Because they're raw and authentic and they ask exactly what they want without fluff or concern about just the right wording. They just talk to Him openly. :) While we are a family who has adopted, I don't typically think in terms of "adoptive family" because for me that was an event, just like giving birth was. We're just plain old family now. :)Anyway, today the boys were asking more questions than normal, and I could see a huge "aha moment" on their faces as I talked about the miracle their story. Going from being a seemingly "unseen" orphan in an tiny little orphanage in a 3rd world country (Ethiopia), not one family member to advocate for them, where they have no internet and no phone, and rarely hot water; to being adopted by parents whose routine was interrupted and whose hearts were stirred in a 1st world country by a God who sees it all and asks us to step into what He's doing. That's pretty near miraculous if you ask me, and if you'd have seen the dawning look on my youngest sons face, he thinks it is too. "Whoaa," he said, as if hearing it for the first time. "Where would we be if God didn't have you come? Maybe still in an orphanage." I love being their mom. For the life I get to see them live, and for all they bring to my life just by being members of our family. And mostly because of the anticipation of what God saved them FOR. :) And then I remember that He called me out of my own depravity and into abundant living when my eyes were opened, and I chose to follow His loving Son. And that He's still calling people today. In relentless pursuit of people in pursuit of Him. That's the beautiful picture of adoption. Being saved from myself and adopted into God's family with rights of being called a daughter (not adopted daughter; DAUGHTER) of The King. :) Man, I love God, and I love that He shared with me the blessed opportunity to know what it is to BE adopted by Him, and to be an adoptive parent to these precious sons. In Relentless Pursuit of Excellence!TRACI :)
