If we’re going to grow, it’s going to have to be on purpose
I love the old saying that “God gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason.”
I have to have my ears and heart open to not just hear, but to receive mentorship and advice.
Truth be told, I can't remember what in the wide world was going on in this picture,😂 but I know that if you want to grow, you MUST be open to receiving constructive feedback (from a trusted mentor) and then to follow up with self-evaluation.
Nothing amazing ever happens by closing our ears to loving words of correction in the form of bold, truthful feedback.
This mentor of mine has delivered some *tough words* to me in the most loving tone and with the most caring facial expression. Those kinds of talks aren’t a walk in the park, but I choose to HEAR, and to grow into them, as clunky as it might feel at first.
Remember: seeds sprout, and then make the tough way up through the ground: in the dark, through the dirt, around rocks and weeds, before it turns into a plant that breaks ground, and eventually blossoms in the sun.
If you’re currently in the dark dirt part of your journey, keep pressing on. Eventually the light will come, and the blossoms of your story will bring JOY to those around you!
“Sometimes when you’re in a dark place you think you’ve been buried, but you’ve actually been planted.” - Christine Caine
