Opportunity’s Knocking. Will you answer?

For years I was a stay at home mom by choice. It took sacrifice and an EXTREMELY tight budget. We have zero regrets. For me, that time is irreplaceable. Our house and our clothes weren't fancy by any stretch of the word, but we were rich in time and memories.

From the time I was about 21, I started reading John Maxwell's books and listening to his tapes (oh my goodness, do you even know what those are?) I wanted to grow as a young, possible future-business-owner (I am a licensed hairdresser, and we thought we'd own a salon one day.)

I prepared myself during those early years, practicing everything John taught about leadership first on myself, and then with our children. I was a youth pastor for 11 years. I practiced what I learned as I led an amazing ministry leadership team, and grew a large youth ministry program at a small church.

And then, at 33 and after 12 years of leaning into personal growth, I started my own business. Up until this point, everything I'd read had been put into practice at home as a mom, and as a youth pastor. Now, seemingly suddenly my boundaries expanded.

For 17 years I’ve been a work at home mom (I still have two teens at home, and four 20-somethings launched,) I am amazed at how having a growth plan really did help me become a better parent as well as preparing me to expand my influence beyond my address! Except you know what? Not only did it enable me to step out into the world to help others, but I’ve already raised up 6 budding leaders in my own kids!

Timing is everything, but I’m wondering if maybe like me, you’ve been growing and practicing what you’re learning in yourself and in your family and small circle of influence.
