Life Altering Mindset & Tools For Marriage And Communication

Supporting one another matters. But being supportive doesn't mean we think the exact same way. It just means that we've had to learn to communicate clearly what and why we're doing something, and to be brave enough to ask for the other’s support.

KC and I are so SO different, and it used to cause a lot of friction; as if one way was the only way to be.

Once we accepted that our differences are OKAY, we started growing in a rhythm that wonderfully complemented the other, even as we pulled and tugged at each other’s thoughts and methods for collaboration.

So many problems due to our differences stemmed from our miscommunication in the early days.

When communication was unclear, when there were unmet unspoken expectations, and assumptions about what should or could happen; it didn't go well. Hurt feelings. Needs unmet.

When we learned to how to regularly communicate our needs and hopes and expectations, and how to best support the other person’s needs or hopes or expectations in a clear, respectful, and vulnerable way; it grew into something amazing.

No one is born to perfectly fit another person.

Oftentimes, it takes a lifetime to align yourself with someone else's way of viewing and doing life. The more focused we got on fighting FOR one another instead of fighting to be right; it grew into a lifelong support system that beautifully enmeshed with the other persons methods.

Marriage for life is absolutely possible. Not perfect and tidy, but possible, and WORTH IT.

No other relationship holds a candle to what a lifetime of merging can create.
