Game Plan for Choosing Well When Eating Out
Let's talk restaurants. Do you ever get overwhelmed by eating out when you're trying to stick to a nutrition plan?
Rule of thumb: the more veggies (NOT cooked in butter - did you know you can ask for that??) the better!
One of the restaurants we love to go to with our big family is Red Robin, where I typically get the grilled salmon or chicken, and I ask for either a side salad with balsamic on the side, or steamed broccoli, or whatever veggies are in season! It's DELICIOUS, and nutritionally delivers!
Or I'll get one of the salads, with balsamic dressing on the side, with no or light cheese. The bread there is typically slathered in butter so I’ll either ask for no bread, or a wheat or grain bread, toasted.
When my dressing comes in the little cup, I DON'T EVER POUR IT ON.
✨🥗TRY THIS TIP: dip your fork in the cup of dressing BEFORE you pick up a bite of salad. Every bite has the flavor without being soggy or covered in unnecessary dressing/calories. By the end of your salad, surprisingly, your salad cup will still be mostly full!
Plus, you'll train your taste buds to be more discerning of the flavors of the actual foods instead of depending on heavy dressings or gravies.
When I do this, I don't ever leave the table stuffed, but instead, satisfied.
Win-Win!
Okay, there’s my little tip for the day for eating out. And the BEST bonus of all: No kitchen clean up! :)
Helping you live a great lifestory!
